Weekend Trip - Coorg

Mind you, you might find not so great language here, but definitely I'll improve over a period of time.I always wanted to Blog about my trips, but couldn't as there were many frequent trips!! ( I know its Bad Joke!!! :) ). Now suddenly realised that me and my wife may not get that many holidays together for long trips, we decided to go for weekend trips. No need to say weekend trips are limited to two days, the mileage is also set to about 250 - 300 Kilometers to max. I was considering the whole list of places in the google. Finally I decided to go to coorg, considering I'll be travelling in the Newly bought beauty, Verna. I didn't wanted her to feel exhausted in the bad roads to other destinations.

We headed off to Coorg Saturday Morning,5am with one of my friend in another car. He preferred to go in separate car as he had a son, 8months, so he wanted to use the entire back seat for him. We started 5Am since the roads weren't crowded, we were into the Mysore road my 5:30 - 5:40. I was following my Friends car ,but couldn't resist when I got into Mysore road.I took charge in the Mysore road and all other cars ( except some superior cars) were left behind very soon. The drive was very smooth and was feeling good since I didn't hear others asking me to go for some other car. Some flash back on buying the car ( When I decided changem y car to New one from Wagon-R to a non-Maruti one, I had multiple options,1.maruti swift,2.Fiat Linea,3. Hyundai Verna. I have test driven al the three vehicles, and I never had to think twice to decide on the verna. It was smooth, on the outer ring road, though I had some doubts about the handling capabilities. I went for it and Upgraded the tyres to next size along with new alloys. since then last 5 months she is doing too well and she did extremly well in the steep roads in coorg as well.I might write a blog on my decision to go for verna on the next blog.)

we were near srirangapattanam by around 7:30 ( we took a break for breakfast for 45 Minutes). we took a deviation to right from srirangapatna to hunsur road. the roads were good, with out any bupms nor humps , it was patched neatly. we reached ranganathittu ,though we havn't planned to stop over, we changed our mind and took a right turn into ranganathittu bird santuary. Went in around 8 Am, no surprise, no one available other than the gate keeper. No boat drivers were available. ( Noticed another group waiting for the boat, What I noticed more was the person had a cannon looking lens and a matching camera). I was looking at that very enviously , he figured out that and he hide it back into his Camera cover. Then there comes the Boat driver(s) and we took a boat alone for ourselves, 6 of us were into the boat and he took us for a 1/2 hour boat drive. I took out my camera which I was shyingly hiding from the other person with a huge camera. I managed to take few nice snaps ( hope its nice..).

We headed towards coorg after this and didnt wanted to stop anywere as we lost two hours already there. out initial plan was to reach by 10, we could reach there only by 12. we called the guy where we booked the cottage. we could find out the cottage with out much difficulty.

To Our surprise the cottags were empty and we two families were the only occupants there. We ordred food and it was fairly quick we got the food on the table. I felt the Salt is free is coorg as he put lot of salt into all curries and even to Chappathies. But any way we had the food with out complaining and decided to take a quick nap and head to Abbey falls and raj's seat and roam around in madikkeri town. Around 4:10 we started and postponed the abbey falls to next day and went to Raja's seat and had walk around the park over there. My son was enjoying the park as he got company there though kannada sounded greek to him.

After spending some time there we started back to cottage and the biggest question came up..where to Dine ? Having a bitter (salty) experience already in the place where we stayed, decided to go for some hotels in town itself. we went back to cottage dropped wife and son there and came back to get our dinner in crystal bowl.
we had a small stay in the swimming pool...The food was good and cheap and thy prepared very fast as well. We had t owait for some 30 Minutes ( considering there were around 60 people having dinner there as a group and many other individual families). we came back with the food and had in out side the cottage. we could notice there were one more family checked in by then. we Had dinner and decided to wind up the activities for the day.

Next day morning we woke up pretty late around 8 and got ready by 9. we had breakfast from the cottage , which was really nice. they had 3/4 varities available. after that we checked out and headed to abbey falls. abbey falls was ok, as there wasn't much water flow. we took some snaps and headed back to bangalore.

On the way back we went to Tibetan Monastery in bylekuppe, kushal Nagar, where we got to see the golden temple there and the 60 feet Budha.

we managed to have a short stay at KRS. we quickly had a small round in the park and came out from there. and by then it was almost 4 Pm and the traffic on the road was climbing up. It was almost dark and I was little disappointed with the head lights of the car as it wasn't bright enough for the power and size of the car. I was having a lifetime difficulty riding the car in less light.

we reached Bangalore around 10PM , back to hectic traffic and chaos. The old Madras road was packed with vehicles due to some accident happened on the hanging bridge. It took almost 1 hr for us to cover the next 5 Kilometers and reached home by 11 PM.

And it was not the travelling, but the fact that I have to go to office next day made me feel very tired and Sad.
